Cryotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment that uses extreme cold (liquid nitrogen) to freeze and destroy diseased tissue. Cryotherapy is a gentle, yet very effective treatment for skin spots such as moles, skin tags, dark spots and warts, tattoo, birthmarks, etc..  Cryotherapy first destroys the unwanted skin spot and then triggers the natural healing mechanisms of the skin, whereby the treated spot dries out, becomes a scab and falls off in one to two weeks after treatment.  During this time, normal skin grows from periphery and underneath of the treated spot and pushes off the dried scab.

During cryotherapy liquid nitrogen is applied directly with a swab or spray device. It is used typically in skin and eye lesions and can also be used in treating pre-cancerous skin lesions, skin tags and nodules. Several treatments may be required.

Upon application of Liquid Nitrogen to the skin, you may feel a slight burning sensation, which only lasts a few seconds and will subside almost immediately.  Everyone tolerates this minimal discomfort very well,  including children.  There is never a need for anesthetics, or any other kind of numbing medicines, numbing gels, etc., medicines that are used often used with Laser treatments.

After completion of therapy, the treated skin may feel slightly sensitive. The treated skin gently swells up and may even look red and irritated for several hours. Swelling is a good sign and means that the treatment has worked. The swelling and skin sensitivity usually subsides in 1-2 days. Normal skin around the treated area becomes slightly red after the treatment, yet this will also subside within a few hours.
